Every Sunday is different. Sometimes you want to make the most of the day, other times you get bored and have the blues about going back to work the next day. Sundays are for me days where I put things in order, where I take the time to plan a productive week. On top of that, of course, I take the time to rest. Because yes, it is possible to do both. In this article I share with you 7 ideas of activities that will allow you to plan a very productive week.
7 THINGS TO DO ON SUNDAY FOR A PRODUCTIVE WEEK
END THE WEEK ON A POSITIVE NOTE
Sundays can be a depressing day for some people. It’s synonymous with boredom, homework, housework… or a day in front of shows/movies. I like to make sure that I end the week on a positive note. Sometimes I like to go out for brunch with my girlfriends, to go to a flea market or just to walk in a park. Other times I prefer to take a nice bath, get a manicure while watching Gilmore Girls and bake a nice chocolate cake. Taking care of myself and my mind is very important and Sunday is the perfect day to do it.
PUTTING THE HOUSE IN ORDER
A messy house is an overwhelmed mind. There is nothing better than starting the week with a clean and tidy living environment. I know that personally I like to get up and not find things lying around, I don’t want to have to tidy up after a long day at work. So I take advantage of Sundays to put away everything that has been lying around for days, to wash the dishes, to give the house a good dusting etc.
CLEAN THE FRIDGE
I personally do my shopping at the beginning of the week, so cleaning the fridge on Sunday makes sense to me. To take the time to check for expired food that needs to be thrown out and to make sure all the shelves are clean. With this kind of system I’m sure I’m paying attention to what’s in my fridge as well as its cleanliness.
CHECK YOUR BUDGET
It’s not easy but it’s important. Especially since we tend to spend more on weekends than on weekdays, whether it’s shopping, restaurants, concerts, etc. For this reason, I always like to check my budget on Sunday. It gives me a good idea of where I stand financially and if I’m a little over budget, there’s still time to slow down.
DO SOME MEAL PREP
Sunday is the perfect day to do meal prep for the week. As much as I love taking the time to cook on the weekends, on weeknights I don’t have the desire or motivation to do so. The solution I found to stop delivering meals in the evening is to prepare everything on Sunday. This clearly makes my life easier, I don’t have to worry about weekday evenings. All I have to do is heat up a dish and it takes less than 5 minutes. The meal prep is ideal for busy people or people who don’t like to cook. Try this system, it might just help you!
DO A DIGITAL SORTING
I tend to receive a lot of emails and if I don’t take the time to check them regularly they pile up very quickly. Whether it’s work emails, press releases, invitations, newsletters I subscribe to… It all adds up quickly. I like to take the time to filter my emails on Sunday so that I can start Monday and my new week on the right foot. Away from that cluttered feeling that an inbox can give. I’m busy deleting emails that I absolutely don’t need or quickly dealing with those that can be deleted after a quick read or a task that only takes a minute or two. I talked in a recent podcast about digital minimalism in particular, feel free to check it out.
PLAN YOUR GOALS FOR THE WEEK
This is something that motivates me tremendously, rather than just focusing on big goals, I like to break them down into smaller goals. This allows me to be aware that I am moving forward with my projects, which is why I set goals for the week every Sunday. These goals can be about my blog, my business, my personal life, my activities… It’s pretty varied but I make sure I don’t set more than 4 goals per week. The idea is not to put pressure on myself either.
